Membership Policies

  • Billing:
    By signing up for a membership with the Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs you authorize BHAC to automatically debit your Visa, MasterCard, or bank account for your membership dues on the first of every month. Automatic payments will continue until 30 days written cancellation notice is received at the club (see "Membership Cancellation" for more details).

    15-Day Money-Back Guarantee:
    We understand that the BHAC may not be the right gym for everyone. Maybe you're looking for a pool or your schedule changed and you can't make it before work like you had planned. Whatever the reason, if you cancel your membership within 15 days of joining, we'll refund your initial payment. (If you purchased a JumpStart membership your refund will be pro-rated based on the number of training sessions completed.)
  • Membership Cancellation:
    All memberships require written cancellation notice 30 days prior to the billing date (the billing date is the 1st of the month regardless of join date). Cancellation must be received in person at the club or by certified or registered mail. One-year memberships have an initial commitment of 12 months and continue on a month-by-month basis after the completion of the commitment until 30 days written notice is received.

    Freezing Your Membership:
    If you are unable to use your membership for several months you may place it on a freeze. Freeze requests are subject to approval by BHAC management and require a 15-day written notice. All membership freezes begin on the 1st of the month (we cannot prorate the first month of a freeze) but can be reactivated at any time. There is a $15/month freeze fee ($5 for medical necessity with a physician's note).
  • Enhancement Fee:
    An enhancement fee of $25 will be charged to all members annually on March 1st. All enhancement fee proceeds are reinvested into facility upgrades and improvements.

    Minimum Commitment Memberships:
    All memberships with an initial minimum commitment (three months, six months, or one year) will automatically convert to a month-to-month membership at the completion of the initial commitment. Our 30-day written cancellation notice (see above) applies.

Safety & Etiquette

Dress Code:
For the safety of our members and to help prevent damage to the equipment, proper athletic attire and footwear are required on the fitness floor.

Respect:
Please be respectful of your fellow members by (1) wiping down equipment after your use and (2) returning weights or other equipment to their proper place after use. We believe in the adage "if you're strong enough to lift it, you're strong enough to put it back."

Peak Hour Time Limits:
Please be considerate of other members by limiting your time on specific equipment during peak hours. Cardio equipment use should be limited to 30 minutes so other members can get their workouts in as well.

Cell Phones:
We understand that cell phones are a part of life but that doesn't mean that everyone needs to hear your conversation. We kindly ask that you refrain from using cell phones within earshot of any members. Texts are fine. And ringers off, obviously.

Additional Fee Services

Locker Use:
All locations provide men's and women's locker rooms. Lockers are free to use for the day (bring your own lock) or may be rented for overnight use for an additional fee. Please see a staff member for details. Please do not leave any property unlocked.

Guests:
We encourage our members to share the BHAC with their friends and family. Upon joining, all members receive a packet including VIP passes for a limited number of guests. Guests must be 18 years or older and present a valid photo ID. There is a $15 fee for any other guest accompanied by a member and a $20 fee for all non-member guests.

Parking (Brookline Village):
In addition to the metered street parking in Brookline Village, we do have access to the small lot behind our club. Lot parking requires a permit that is available for $10/month. Cars parked without a parking permit (or in spaces not marked for Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs) will be towed at the owner's expense. Pretty quickly. And not by us!

Babysitting (Wellesley):
Our Wellesley location offers a safe, clean, and fun place for children to play while parents enjoy a workout just steps away. Babysitting is offered every day but Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon for children between six months and five years of age. The maximum stay is 90 minutes per day and reservations are required. Parents may not leave the club while their children are in our care. The cost is $6 per child per day or $40 per month for unlimited visits.

Other Policies

Membership Referral Program:
We greatly appreciate those members who share us with their friends and family. For each person you refer to our club who joins, and remains a member for a minimum of 90 days, you earn one free month of membership dues. (Credit amount is equal to the value of a basic month-to-month membership at your location; if the credit amount is less than your current membership dues, you will be charged the difference at the time of redemption.)

Lost & Damaged Items:
Beacon Hill Athletic Clubs is not responsible for any items lost or stolen at our facilities. We encourage all members to lock their belongings (bring your own lock) in a day use locker while working out.

Winter Weather:
Living in Boston means snow, and sometimes lots of it. We pride ourselves on being open for our members 363 days a year (we're closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas only) but sometimes the New England weather has something different in mind. Weather related class cancellations, club closures, or changes to our hours are always made for one reason and one reason only: safety. The safety of our members and staff comes first. We will always email our members and post any changes on our website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, as soon as possible. Our social media accounts are always the best source for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
