The BHAC's ZONE 5 and Afterburn programs are unique exercise programs that feature high-intensity interval training (HIIT), an enhanced form of physical training comprising alternating periods of short, intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense aerobic recovery periods. HIIT sessions provide improved athletic capacity and condition, higher glucose metabolism, and accelerated fat burning.
These sessions feature three primary components: interval cardiovascular training, strength training (using the LifeFitness Synrgy 360™ system, suspension cables, plyometrics, and body weight exercises) and active stretching. Sessions are appropriate for individuals of all fitness levels from first-timer to professional athlete.
A very significant element of the ZONE 5 and Afterburn workouts is excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). EPOC is an increased rate of oxygen intake following HIIT training that results in the burning of excess fat for up to 24 hours after a workout. In other words, these classes will seriously kick your ass.
